A victim is a person who accounts for misfortune in their lives on the basis of what the other does to them. Overcoming victim-hood requires accountability.
This indicates that any proper and useful definition of empowerment would have three categories in it, namely those of means, ability and accountability.
The sad reality is that the understanding of empowerment that is current our country at the moment seems to confirm the issue of expectation rather than that of contribution.
