MindPilot: Bertie du Plessis

Bertie du Plessis latest book, Hard-Core Strategy: The Agenda

I met up with business advisor and professional Business speaker, Bertie du Plessis in Pretoria, yesterday. He kindly gave me a signed copy of his latest book, Hard-Core Strategy: The Agenda.

Bertie, the CEO of MindPilot (Pty) Ltd® and I met by a happy coincidence at the PSASA a couple of years ago.

We clicked after he found out that my dad, Dr. Bruckner de Villiers was …well, my dad.

My dad was a giant in the theological and philosophical world and Bertie liked his work.

Of course, Bertie is no slouch in that area either.

He studied literature and theology at the Universities of Stellenbosh (SA) and Tübingen (Germany).

He is humble about his many achievements (probably his Calvinist upbringing coming to the fore). I only recently found out that he had his PHd and that he is an accomplished writer and artist who has exhibited at South Africa’s premier gallery, the Goodman.

Bertie ran the PSASA’s first official Special Interest Group (SIG) last year on how to ‘write your first book’.

As a result, just a tad more than five out of the 12 folks who attended the SIG have written their books.

Or, as these books are fondly known by, ‘Business Cards on Steroids’.

So, this is a good thing, is it not?

On 16 May 2013, Bertie will be running a SIG workshop on how to get published on Amazon. I’ve already booked my place.

Bertie has four books on Amazon Kindle so far:

  • Hard-Core Strategy: The Agenda
  • How to Write Your Business Card on Steroids (Bertie donated 70 books at the PSASA’s recent Toolkit Convention – thanks a stack, Bertie)
  • Your Small Business Nightmare and How to Wake Up
  • Don’t Lose Your Pension

So, if you ever want an intellectually stimulating time, ask Bertie out for coffee … you wont be sorry.

If you’re a motivational speaker, business speaker, conference speaker or keynote speaker and you haven’t joined the Professional Speakers Association of Southern Africa yet, now’s a good time to think about it.
