This course offers students a proven and systematic method for converting implicit and explicit organizational knowledge into Business Process Models using the Business Modeling Language (BML). Students will learn and practice techniques in synthesising business knowledge/information from existing documentation into business models and then further refining and rationalising these business models through facilitated work sessions with business subject matter experts (SMEs). Further, students will utilise BusinessGenetics’ W5 Editor Software to create, augment, and view business models. The use of BML specific project management techniques, used by BusinessGenetics field consultants to ensure the successful, multi-dimensional and complete definition of any BML project will also be introduced.

Cedric G. Tyler

A world leading business process management (BPM) and Business Requirements (BR) researcher, expert and speaker

He began his career at IBM’s international development facility, RESPOND in the UK.  Subsequently, he founded Infomet (pty) Ltd (sold to IBM), BusinessGenetics, Inc., Affinity Solutions, Momentum Resourcing and xBML Innovations, specializing in next generation BPM and BR.

He invented and developed the (eXtended) Business Modeling Language®, a rule-based / formal method for describing and improving business operations.  This approach is recognized by leading industry Analysts and academics as “industry changing” and “one of a kind” – Gartner®. The approach “converges” various corporate disciplines and foundationally enables multiple corporate initiatives; from business improvement, business requirements and compliance.  The net result is significant productivity gains.

Cedric published a book, “Business Genetics: Understanding 21st Century Corporations” (Wiley), that challenges mainstream thinking, and introduces a unique approach to how we describe, improve/simplify, manage and automate business.
